We’re but beautiful babies here - so we’re taking our baby steps to not step on any toes.
Our team consists of a beautiful merging of people from the United States, Brasil, and Guatemala. From those of us who have founder our way to stewarding this medicine and yet whom are not from these lands of which it grows, we acknowledge our inherent privilege in the world, and to the best of our ability, we acknowledge the innumerable hardships the indigenous soul of the planet has endured.

RECIPROCITY
One way among many that we honor the lineage of people who’ve cared for this plant medicine of Cacao for generations is by way of reciprocity through profit-sharing & charitable donation. The goal here is not to just "pick a charity," but rather, an intentional quest of co-creation in a better life for all, starting right here at the roots of where this sacred plant grows.
5% of the profits at HWC goes directly to the beautiful Mayan people and the lands here in Lake Atitlán, Guatemala. For example, we support 3 children to go to a really good school, including clothes, supplies and transport, every year. We also support Water4Life with their efforts of filtration and education, contribute time and money to local trash clean-ups, and send monthly donations to Casa Tot Loy, a local Alcoholism & Drug Rehabilitation Center, to name a few of these efforts.

Below is a breakdown of the allocation of income based on a block of Cacao sold in Guatemala and internationally at the median price between wholesale and retail. 
The dollar goes somewhere around 5-7x further, here in Guatemala. So though it may appear like the farmers and women’s collective are receiving much less of the cut- this boggled us as well- the fact is, they are doing quite well for the local standards of economy and as well are on-par with the portion the HWC team is receiving.
